KECIA’S KEEPSAKES: Community Care

Happy Black History Month and Happy 2024! I hope the year has gotten off to a great start for you, your families and your teams!

The theme for my Keepsakes today is “Community Care.” Let’s take a look inside:

PERSONAL KEEPSAKES

On the Blogs:

The article “Are You Equipped To Be A Refuge?” examines what it means to support those who need a temporary respite from the storms of life. The 7-Questions ask us to consider our needs and the needs of others. Trigger Warning: The article discusses the death by suicide of Dr. Antoinette “Bonnie” Candia-Bailey and includes suicide intervention resources.

PROFESSIONAL KEEPSAKES

“Walk It [Like You] Talk It”: A Louder Call to Review and Revive Organizations’ Social Impact Programs. This article asks leaders to recommit and extend their support of their employees and the communities they represent. EXCERPT: “Leadership is not a synonym for “power,” it is a call to service. True leaders recognize the evolving needs of their workforce and adapt accordingly.”

The article PEACE AT WORK has us consider the double entendre of what it means to have peace in the workplace and peace working within each of us. EXCERPT: “Creating a culture of peace at work during cataclysmic times requires more than a mere absence of overt conflict. It requires mutual respect, trust, collaboration among colleagues, and a radical commitment to our collective wellbeing. It’s about creating a space where diverse perspectives are welcomed, and differences are celebrated rather than feared or tolerated. In such an environment, individuals feel valued, heard, and empowered to contribute their best.”

RESOURCES WORTH KEEPING…

Here are a few resources that my team and I have found helpful in working with clients and/or in our own respective healing journeys:

I HOPE YOU FAIL: 10 HATER STATEMENTS HOLDING YOU BACK FROM GETTING EVERYTHING YOU WANT is one of the most candid motivational books for entrepreneurs I have read in a while. Written by restaurateur and serial entrepreneur, Pinky Cole, I Hope You Fail is chock full of lessons from the author’s lived experiences. Enjoy this very real and raw book that helps you re-purpose failure and redefine success on your own terms.

Book: The Love of 10,000 (3rd Edition)

I am thrilled to bring back our “Gift-A-Book” campaign for 2024! We are expanding our donations to support not only schools, but also hospitals (especially children’s hospitals), senior homes, churches, libraries, and other locations. Feel free to contribute to the campaign and inform us where you would like to donate and we will do so on your behalf! Order signed copies of the book here. You may also watch this video to learn how to donate to the campaign. Follow the fun and our progress on Instagram @loveof10000 as we achieve our goal of reaching 10,000 readers!
